The Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation has joined hands with ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India to launch a major skill development project. On October 13, 2026, both organizations signed an official Letter of Intent in Vijayawada to establish a state-of-the-art center in Anakapalli district. This new initiative aims to provide industry-relevant training to local youth and create new job opportunities across the region. It also focuses on supporting local communities, including women, farmers, and fishermen, through targeted welfare programs.

What Happened?

The proposed facility will be officially named the Naipunya Mariyu Samaja Abhivrudhi Kendram and will be located at Nakkapalli in Anakapalli district. The agreement was signed by G. Ganesh Kumar, Managing Director and CEO of APSSDC, and Ashutosh Telang, Director and Vice-President of HR and Administration at AMNS India. Under this initial agreement, the center will focus on offering certified skill training aligned directly with current industrial needs. This will help young workers secure steady employment in growing industrial sectors.

To establish this modern facility, AMNS India has proposed a major capital investment of approximately 70 crore rupees. This funding will cover the construction of infrastructure, buying advanced equipment, and building key facilities. Additionally, the company plans to allocate around 10 crore rupees every year to cover operational expenses, maintenance, and training activities. The final financial commitment and project framework will be finalized after the completion of a Detailed Project Report and official state approvals.

According to official sources, the APSSDC will take charge of mobilizing eligible students, managing the curriculum, and monitoring training standards. Meanwhile, AMNS India will assist in creating the physical infrastructure and setting up operational frameworks. Official statements confirmed that this center will also serve as a hub for community development. It will connect local residents with important government welfare schemes to improve overall rural livelihoods.

Why Does This Matter?

This development is extremely significant for young job seekers in Andhra Pradesh, especially in rural and semi-urban areas like Anakapalli. Often, young graduates struggle to find good jobs because they lack practical, industry-specific skills required by modern companies. By offering targeted training and recognized certifications, this initiative bridges the gap between education and employment, helping local youth secure better-paying jobs close to home.

Furthermore, the project goes beyond basic job training by supporting whole rural communities. By helping women, farmers, and fishermen access essential government programs, the initiative promotes inclusive growth. The large financial commitment from a global industrial giant like AMNS India shows strong confidence in the region's future growth and social development.
