Rail passengers in Hyderabad are eagerly awaiting the introduction of the new Vande Bharat sleeper trains to upgrade their long-distance travel experience. Following the huge success of the chair-car Vande Bharat express trains, travelers are hoping for comfortable overnight options. Major stations like Secunderabad and Kacheguda currently connect Hyderabad to several key regional hubs. However, the lack of sleeping facilities makes long journeys tiring for many commuters.

What Happened?

The current Vande Bharat chair-car trains operating out of Hyderabad have become very popular among daily commuters and business travelers. These trains offer fast travel, clean coaches, modern safety features, and top-class onboard amenities. Currently, services run from Secunderabad and Kacheguda to key destinations like Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Yeshwantpur in Bengaluru, and Nagpur. Passengers appreciate the speed and punctuality of these modern trains.

Despite their popular reception, the seating-only arrangement presents a clear challenge for overnight and long-distance journeys. Passengers traveling long distances often find sitting for eight to ten hours uncomfortable. To solve this problem, Indian Railways has developed a new sleeper variant of the Vande Bharat train. This train is specifically designed for overnight journeys and combines speed with the comfort of sleeping berths.

The upcoming Vande Bharat sleeper trains feature fully air-conditioned coaches equipped with modern passenger amenities. Notable features include specially designed steps for easier access to upper berths, better suspension for smooth rides, and upgraded interiors. While Indian Railways is preparing to roll out sleeper services across several national routes, travelers in Hyderabad are closely watching for official announcements regarding routes from their city. Key prospective destinations include Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, and Tirupati.
