Amazon India has officially expanded its popular quick-delivery service, Amazon Now, to the coastal city of Visakhapatnam. Speaking at a media interaction in Visakhapatnam, Srikant Sree Ram, Director of Everyday Essentials at Amazon India, shared encouraging growth details. The service works closely with local stores to fulfill orders at rapid speeds. This major expansion marks a key milestone in Amazon's push to strengthen its presence across Andhra Pradesh.

What Happened?

Amazon Now has seen massive growth since its national launch in early 2025. In Visakhapatnam, the service fulfills everyday orders from nine local outlets of More Retail Limited. Company executives reported that order volumes in the city are six to seven times higher than the previous Amazon Fresh service. Within four to six weeks of launching in new areas, nearly forty percent of customers return to make another purchase.

Nationwide, Amazon Now has crossed one billion dollars in annualized gross sales. The company stated that order numbers have been doubling every single quarter since its initial rollout. To build on this momentum, Amazon plans to expand the rapid service to over one hundred Indian cities before the upcoming Diwali festival. In Andhra Pradesh alone, the service is already operating in twenty cities, including Vijayawada, Guntur, Tirupati, Nellore, and Rajahmundry.

Customer buying habits show interesting patterns across the platform. Non-grocery products account for about forty percent of all items ordered through Amazon Now. There is also a noticeable shift toward healthier eating habits among consumers. Sales of dry fruits and nuts have surged by sixty percent, while almond orders have nearly tripled. Most customer orders peak around nine in the evening, showing high demand for nighttime home deliveries.
