Police in Illinois have arrested a 19-year-old fast-food worker who describes himself as a neo-Nazi for allegedly planning a mass shooting at a Hindu temple. Alexandros Paporakis of Palatine, Illinois, was taken into custody on Sunday afternoon as he was leaving his home. Authorities believe the suspect was actively preparing to carry out a deadly attack that very day at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Aurora. The timely intervention came after concerned co-workers alerted law enforcement about alarming messages and hate speech.

What Happened?

Alexandros Paporakis, who worked as a cashier at a local Taco Bell, now faces serious felony charges, including making a terrorist threat and unlawful possession of firearms. According to court records and prosecutors from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Paporakis openly shared extreme white supremacist views with his colleagues. Co-workers reported that he repeatedly expressed intense hatred toward minority groups, specifically stating that he could not wait to kill Indian people.

The situation escalated when Paporakis sent digital communications to a co-worker, including an eight-page document titled "Why I fought: A.K.A. (Aurora Shooter’s Manifesto)." In this document, he described himself as a sociopathic neo-Nazi who fantasized about mass murder every day. The manifesto contained deeply offensive slurs and referred to Indian, Jewish, and African American people as subhumans while detailing plans to kill as many individuals as possible. He also shared photos of tactical gear and hinted that Sunday would be a special day.

Acting swiftly on the tips provided by the brave co-workers, the Mount Prospect and Palatine police departments coordinated a joint operation to arrest Paporakis. When investigators searched his residence, they discovered a dangerous cache of weapons, including an unregistered AR-style ghost rifle lacking a serial number, along with loaded magazines and extra ammunition. Law enforcement officers also recovered items displaying Nazi symbols and a gas canister inscribed with derogatory slurs targeting South Asian communities. A judge ruled that Paporakis will remain held in jail without bail as he awaits his next court hearing scheduled for October 30.
