India captain Shreyas Iyer has achieved a career-best fourth position in the latest ICC T20I batting rankings after delivering a brilliant century against the West Indies. This remarkable performance occurred during the opening match of the ongoing five-match T20I series hosted in India. Iyer's rapid rise highlights the dominant form of the Indian cricket team on the global stage. His impressive climb ensures that three out of the top four T20I batters in the world now represent India.

What Happened?

Shreyas Iyer's phenomenal century helped solidify India's firm grip at the top of the international rankings. The Indian team now boasts an extraordinary lineup, with wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan holding the top spot in the world and explosive opener Abhishek Sharma occupying the second position. Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan is the only non-Indian player inside the top four, holding the third spot after earning a career-best rating for his performances against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, other international batters also made significant moves, with West Indies star Sherfane Rutherford jumping 13 places to joint 24th and Sri Lanka's Kusal Mendis climbing to 23rd place. India's Sanju Samson also gained four spots to reach joint 27th place.

The bowling and all-rounder rankings across formats also saw dramatic updates following recent international matches. West Indies all-rounder Roston Chase made a massive leap of 24 places to claim the 23rd spot in the T20I bowling rankings while also rising to third place among all-rounders. Pakistan's young talent Maaz Sadaqat recorded one of the biggest leaps, surging from outside the top 100 into 45th place after a stellar three-match series against Sri Lanka. In England cricket news, fast bowler Jofra Archer has made a highly anticipated return to the squad for the upcoming Australia series, while captain Jos Buttler has been ruled out due to injury.

The longest format of the game also experienced key changes following Australia's decisive 214-run victory against South Africa in the first Test match at Kingsmead in Durban. Australian batter Matthew Renshaw emerged as a standout performer, earning the Player of the Match award after scoring 190 in the first innings and an impactful 82 in the second innings. This heroic effort propelled Renshaw from outside the top 100 into joint 49th place among Test batters.
