Director Nitesh Tiwari has taken on the massive responsibility of bringing the timeless epic Ramayana to the big screen. Featuring a stellar cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi, the ambitious film blends traditional Indian mythology with cutting-edge visual effects. The first part of this grand cinematic retelling focuses on the origins of Lord Rama and Ravana, setting the stage for their legendary struggle. By treating the source material with deep respect, the production aims to offer a visually stunning yet emotionally grounded experience for audiences worldwide.

What Happened?

The film begins with an intense conflict between the gods and the asuras, establishing the mythic scale of the world. It follows the dramatic rise of Ravana, played by Yash, who gains extraordinary powers through intense penance and defeats Indra to capture Lanka. Meanwhile, in Ayodhya, Lord Rama is born to King Dasharatha. The narrative carefully traces Rama's early life, his education, his journey with Sage Vishwamitra, and his marriage to Sita in Mithila, highlighting the human relationships that form the core of the epic.

A major turning point occurs when Queen Kaikeyi demands Rama's exile to the forest for fourteen years. Rama accepts the decree with total devotion to duty, accompanied by Sita and Lakshman. As they navigate forest life, events in Lanka begin to unfold, culminating in Shurpanakha's encounter with Rama and her subsequent humiliation. Enraged, Ravana abducts Sita, bringing the first installment of the film to a dramatic suspenseful conclusion before the ultimate battle begins.

Throughout this grand narrative, director Nitesh Tiwari balances visual grandeur with intimate character moments. Rather than rushing toward the war, the storytelling emphasizes the emotional weight of brotherhood, sacrifice, and righteousness. Supported by impressive production design and visual effects by DNEG, the film successfully captures the distinct contrast between the gold-laden city of Lanka and the disciplined kingdom of Ayodhya.
